Tami Zhao

Hello, everyone! My name is Tami Zhao and I am 20 years old. I was born in Michigan and then grew up in Chicago with my mom and my older sister. I graduated from high school back in may of 2006 and then decided to pursue my dream of modeling and moved to New York City and signed with an agency. While I was in New York, I walked the runways for many top name brands and shot magazines including Glamour, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and Women's Health. Within this year, I also traveled to places including Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Mexico, Ecuador, and a few other countries as well.
In July of 2007, I flew to Beijing to visit for a summer, and incidentally.... fell in love with the city. It was a booming city with incredible culture, traditions, and the most jaw-dropping history. A month later, I moved all of my things from the States and made Beijing my new home. In September, I competed in China's biggest and most well known modeling competition, held by New Silk Road Agency in Beijing. The competition, 2007 New Silk Road Model Look, was held in Sanya on September 15th and I placed 2nd runner up in the finals. After this, I continued my modeling career with New Silk Road and traveled all around China doing runway shows, magazine shoots, and campaign shoots.
Since I started modeling, I've walked the runways of Nicole Miller, Jill Stuart, MaxMara, Dior, Guess, Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenburg, Rock and Republic, Diesel, Alberta Ferretti, NE Tiger, Shiatzy Chen, White Collar, Hosa, Aimer, Ordifen, Li Ning, and many other brands. Magazines that I've done photoshoots for in China include Marie Claire China, Cosmopolitan China, Women's Health China, Esquire China, Grace, and the covers of Refashion and Beijing Fashion.
Modeling career aside, I've been emceeing many large scaled events in China as well. I've emceed over 40 events in the last year and half, some in Chinese, some in English, and some in both. Because I fell in love with it and decided that broadcasting was a path I wanted to start heading towards, I applied and got accepted to the Communications University of China, one of the top five school in China, and the number one school for broadcasting and journalism. I'm double majored in Chinese Broadcasting and Journalism and English Broadcasting and Journalism. And as of a few months ago, I started hosting an entertainment show here in Beijing.
Whether it's my modeling career, or my broadcasting/emcee career, I'm very proud of all the accomplishments that I have made over the past few years, but I have even bigger dreams. I will continue to work hard and hopefully do better and better every day. I know that I can do this because I believe that I can do anything I set my mind to. And the best comfort is knowing that I have the love and support of all my family and friends.
