About Me

Glamour photography has been a creative outlet for me for over thirty years now. My first Glamour models came from a rather unique source. I had been working almost exclusively with bands and entertainers for about two years, creating promotional and on-stage performance photos. The city where I was living has a very strong jazz following, and there were quite a few mainstream jazz and jazz/pop trios, which featured female singers. After my reputation became established within the local entertainment community, an interesting phenomenon began to occur. I would be in the middle of a studio session or taking a break between sets in a nightclub when the girl singer would come up to me and ask, " Would you do some photos of just me?"

The situation was a natural for both of us. She got the photos for her own use, and I got a willing subject who had all the qualities I could have asked for. Not only was she attractive, but usually her stage presence translated into a natural modeling ability. She also had a working knowledge of makeup and hair, and always had great clothes for performing. Occasionally, one of these models would be a bit too flamboyant in her poses, but a little coaching generally resolved any problems. From there, I started receiving phone calls from aspiring models and actresses who needed photos for portfolios, composites and so on.

Eventually I had requests from their friends, roommates, sisters, etc. who wanted unique photos of their own done. Amazingly, the most beautiful, hardest working, cooperative and versatile models were these "ordinary" women. Having no pre-conceived notions about what to expect, they frequently put far more effort, planning and enthusiasm into our sessions than experienced models. Ofttimes, they would virtually clear out their closet and bring every item of clothing they owned. In many cases it was an opportunity to live out a fantasy and discover a side of herself she never knew about. To this day, I will not hesitate to approach a striking young woman in a restaurant, give her my card, and tell her I would like to photograph her. Some of my most exciting models have been found that way.
