About Me

Sarah-Jean Villa has been performing since she was three years old and has no intention of ever slowing down.

Unafraid to be adventurous, sexy and edgy, Sarah-Jean prides herself on her creative abilities and desires to be an expressionistic performer/singer/songwriter, drawing on personal life experiences to create music that is insightful and straightforward.

Born into a creative family she soon discovered she liked to be the centre of attention and started off a as dancer at the age of three in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro and then at the age of nine started singing lessons with Ian Garrett. Sarah-Jean spent most of her childhood performing as a dancer and in various musicals and choirs and has studied with various vocal teachers since she was a child. Having always been lauded for her powerful voice, some have even described her voice as too powerful as she often was a dominant voice among her outings and has regularly been suggested as a potential opera star.

Despite her training in dance it was music that drove and inspired her, motivating her to perform in High School where she excelled in Musical Theatre, school choirs, talent shows and performed as a part of The Mississauga Youth Group in variety shows, such as Leader of the Pack, HMS pinafore, and more.

Sarah-Jean continued her studies at the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto, further cementing her resolve that singing and performing is something that she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She also got introduced to the word of acting at Randolph. Since graduating from Randolph she has performed in SNOW WHITE (The Bully Show) across Ontario as Snow White, The Summerworks Festival in EVERY NIGHT’S HOT at the Va Va Voom! as Florence and in the musical GREASE as Jan. More recently Sarah-Jean has taken to impersonating one of her heroes in various venues all across Ontario as Marilyn Monroe.

Sarah-Jean has also appeared in numerous Feature Films, including the roles of Pockets in SNAPPED, Carmen in 11 DAY’S WITH IVAN and Vikki in AWAKENING. Sarah-Jean has also appeared in various commercials and is a featured singer on the AWAKENING soundtrack. Sarah-Jean’s involvement with the film AWAKENING was documented in The Mississauga News.

Since graduating from Randolph Sarah-Jean desired fiercely to work on her own music and branched out to merge with other artists on different styles of music as she honed her ability and was discovering her own niche and her own voice. After much searching and experimentation, Sarah-Jean discovered two certainties, 1) She wanted to do her own thing and 2) she wanted to rock.

Sarah-Jean was introduced to producer Roman Zebik which lead to their joining together to create her song for the film AWAKENING. This lead to her association with Grammy Nominated and past Grant Recipient, producer Mark Zupek, whom she is currently working with on her own music project. Together they worked to refine her debut title track “Cherry Boy”.

As a singer, she is extremely diverse vocally and stylistically with her ability to capture and excel in various genres such as pop, rock, jazz, theatrical, classical and opera. As a songwriter, her music is pop-rock and she covers a variety of topics, drawing from life and inspiration from a diverse range of influences including a number of unique and eclectic artists, from Marilyn Monroe to Marilyn Manson, David Lynch to Madonna, The Dixie Chicks to Nine Inch Nails to Black Eyed Peas to Queen to Joan Jet to The Beatles to Slayer and many more.

Sarah-Jean enjoys modeling as well and has been working with various professional photographers for the past four years, where she loves to entice the camera and attract notice. Sarah-Jean also works in the cosmetic industry as a make-up artist for such clients as Lise Waiter, utilizing her creative desires to help others evoke their inner beauty by harmonizing their inner selves with their outer appearance.

Not afraid to stand out.

Distinct and individualistic.

Sarah-Jean Villa desires to live up to the influence of the powerful Femmes and artists who inspired her by one day, herself, becoming a symbol for imagination and talent.
