About Me

***GenX Visual Arts has merged with iClick Photography to form dsmPhotoCompany***

*** We are very selective about our TFP/CD work and otherwise offer great portfolio rates. This allows us to offer you the highest quality images and really focus on making you look your best. Ask me about a new collaborative effort I'm offering with another studio... 2 studios, a print portfolio and training for around the cost of a single photographer because we believe not just one photographer should make up your book. ***

TPF/CD isn't out of the question but it would have to be a really interesting idea/location/etc. as I have to block out that time from my portrait studio clients.

My name is Brian and I'm a photographer from West Des Moines and I work on everything from still lifes and stock to portraits and portfolios. Plain and simple I see light and try to paint the best image possible with it. I'm easy going and it shows in my work. There is nothing I like to hear more than "this is the best picture I have ever seen of myself." I try to be really diverse and approach my photography as art, not a job. I went back to school for graphic design a few years ago and it has really helped me see what art directors are looking for so that makes the photo shoot a little more directed and the images that much better.
I'm very easy going and I enjoy collaborating with the models I'm working with. Nothing is better that an image that is the result of artists working together towards a common idea.

My wife is my business partner and makeup artist so she can be available for assistance on most photo shoots. This also provides another person for both my protection and yours. On that note I don't have any problem with escorts as long as they aren't distracting and don't mind being put to work as reflector holders, gophers, etc. If the escort is distracting/disruptive then I will always talk to you first as to not embarass your escort but if a problem continues then I will have to ask them to wait in my waiting room and it is up to you if you would like to keep shooting.

My studio space is in downtown DSM at the Art316 building (art316dsm.com). The building has several interesting shooting locations along with the studio backgrounds and space itself.

I'm always open to working on new projects so if you have something you would like to shoot then please feel free to contact me and we'll work out the details... imagination is the only limit.

As a side note I am not a hypocrite, if I am being paid for a job then I always make sure my model is paid also. I always choose models I have worked with in the past and know I can trust for these engagements.

Thank you for your time.
