Photographer Profile: Robert Christian Lizan

Eccentricity never looked this good. May it be through the wedding photos that he shoots, sporting events that he covers or in the portraits that he takes, Robert Christian Lizan has come a long way from a student with a photography class elective with a borrowed camera. With a pouring desire to continually challenge himself, he deviated from a technical field and experimented what he can do with his creative side, making him end up in the field of photography.

RC Lizan was able to experience different fields of photography in a short span of time. Early on in his career, he was able to develop his own style in doing weddings, shooting sporting events and taking portraits. He deliberately breaks the norms and gets personal with all the people that he shoots, thus enabling him to take a more natural look for the work that he does.

Being able to shoot weddings under different well-known wedding photographers, he immediately learned their styles and developed a more textured and edgy look for his photos which he found lacking in his mentor’s shots. While doing sports photography, he covered events like the San Mig Enduro challenge, Subic International Triathlon, Asian Junior Fencing Championships, Asian Duathlon Championships and many more.

Due to his extensive portfolio of weddings portraits and sporting event photos, he was commissioned by an American sporting company called Nazil Sports group to be their official photographer in all their Mixed Martial Arts events. He was able to cover prestigious events of promoters like The Ultimate Fighting Championship, Pride Fighting Championship, and World Fighting Alliance to name a few. While in California, he was also a contributor in Tapout magazine and Grappling magazine. He was also the Official photographer of one of the most famous fighting team to date, Chute Boxe. The Brazilian team employed him to shoot all their events and produce all the photos of their fighters. He was able to shoot world champion fighters like Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Murilo “Ninja” Rua, Nino Schembri and Jorge Oliveira.

When he came back to the Philippines, he went back to covering weddings and started covering various marathons and is currently the official photographer of the SM’s Golf tournaments and the Louis Cuison Friendship Cups.

Being dubbed as a man of potentials while in college, his photography will satisfy his wild side and his hardheaded attitude of never being able to keep still at a moment’s notice.
